You Could Remake The Body

You Could Remake The Body
Written and transcribed by Terry Grant

The following is a message I have transcribed and edited from a talk Ishvara gave on February 21, 2006. - TG.

Ishvara:

To attain the awareness I am pointing to, it can be enough to start by just being concerned about the physical body. Anger, fear, resentment, resistance and attachment--all of these take a heavy toll on the body. To be concerned only about one's body is a self-centered motivation, yet it is a start in this awareness. Seeing the effect these things have on you physically provides motivation to become more conscious of that connection.

Physically, you bear the consequences of beliefs and concepts, the hypnosis that runs the consensus world. This causes suffering. The source of suffering includes judgments, expectations, projections, resistances, hate, attachments, fear and anger. All of these "negative" emotions cause wear and tear on the body. For every moment you entertain that kind of energy, you are destroying the body. After a while, you catch on to this and realize that it is not worth it. It is not worth it to be angry with someone, it is not worth it to hold a grudge, it is not worth it to hang on to frustration or anxiety.

Loving your body is a very important first step. It is important to do what you know will help create better health for you. This includes curbing your attachments and addictions. For instance, eating too much damages the body.

When you are prone to addictions and indulgences, the body gets the message that, "You are just not worth it. You are not worth the effort to curb the appetite, to stop the addiction, to cease doing those things that are harmful." Every time you succumb to an addiction, you are saying to yourself that you are unworthy, that your body is not worth the effort. That leads to a path of destruction.

Practicing the higher awareness of connection, allowing Life to be the way it is and taking the next step, moment by moment, is very beneficial physically. That benefit in itself can be impetus enough to get people to put this awareness into practice, because humans often are selfish.

Yet with that initial selfish motivation, you can attain the frequency of connection in which there is genuine compassion, genuine allowing, genuine experience of connection. When you say to yourself that you know there is a higher way of being, a greater connection, you are saying that you are ready to participate in a greater arena. So it becomes: what you are willing to do for yourself, you are willing to do for others. If you are not willing to do this for yourself, you are not willing to do it for others; you may pretend that you are, but you are not.

That is why I put such emphasis on "walking the talk." There are many teachers who are saying good things, but they are not practicing what they preach. So their teaching is shallow and empty. The awareness I am pointing to needs to be demonstrated constantly. I realize that puts pressure on you who are around me, because you must demonstrate this awareness. Otherwise it is pointless. If this awareness cannot be lived, there is no reason for my being here. If this awareness cannot be demonstrated by those around me, then I must come to the conclusion that humanity is simply not ready for it. That is the ultimate connection.

The human intellect has a marvelous way of projecting things onto the outside and seeking an escape. Humans have become very good at escape: seeing and knowing what could be better, but making an excuse for not doing it, living in the past while failing to see what is happening now.

If you begin to take this seriously, you will start to watch yourself. You will start to watch your thoughts, because your thoughts can be very damaging. Every time you have a "negative" thought, every time you resist what is happening, or are attached to something, or project a problem onto someone or something else--any time you do any of these things, you are saying terrible things to your cellular structure, and you won't escape the consequence of that. You can't escape the consequence.

On the other hand, if you become mindful, and persistent in knowing, then the situation turns around, and you could literally heal yourself. You could remake the body. It does not matter how much damage you have done already. If you are really determined and really persistent and sincere, this can occur.
